Tamara’s career as an economist has centred on delivering consultancy services to a broad range of clients with a predominant focus on those in the public sector. Her knowledge lies in the areas of economic impact and contribution assessments, regulatory and policy analysis, and the associated supporting skills and methods that are required to undertake these activities.
Tamara is a part of EY Canberra’s economic, regulation and policy practice. Tamara’s work as a consultant has seen her support, advise and collaborate with many teams within the public sector space across a diverse and interesting set of sectors. While her clients are by and large federal government departments, she has also had the opportunity to work with local governments, private companies, and industry associations.
Tamara’s passion lies in providing government and other bodies with economic and policy advice based on rigorous and robust analysis that supports evidence-based decision making. Her chosen avenue of work has led her to develop skills in the areas of qualitative and quantitative data analysis, cost benefit analysis, economic and financial evaluations, feasibility studies, market and industry scans, and economic modelling. Tamara’s current avenue of interest, development and personal passion is behavioural economics and how government can design and implement policies and programs that can effectively take account of, and respond to, people’s behaviour.
Tamara’s career thus far has also spread two countries where recently she spent 2.5 years working in Canada. This enabled Tamara to gather further expertise and knowledge in the public policy space through experiencing the public policy setting and topics of importance in another jurisdiction.
Tamara completed a Bachelor of Economics and Bachelor of Finance at the Australian National University. Following this, she also undertook a Master of Public Policy and Management through the University of London, as well as being awarded a Certificate in Applying Behavioural Insights to the Design of Public Policy from Harvard University (John F. Kennedy School of Government, Executive Education).
Outside of her career, Tamara is a hiking enthusiast with a love of adventure. She recently has returned to Australia after spending 3 months exploring the National Parks of the USA and hiking over 100km near every week.
