Luise McCulloch is the Deputy Australian Statistician leading the Statistical Services Group in the ABS. The Statistical Services Group has responsibility for producing the ABS’ demographic, economic, environment and social statistics.

Prior to joining the ABS in 2015, Luise worked for seven years with the Commonwealth Treasury. At the Treasury, Luise held the following positions: Division Head of Corporate and International Tax Division, Acting Executive Director, Policy Co-ordination and Governance, Division Head Budget Policy Division, Division Head Infrastructure, Industry, Environment and Defence Division, Head of the Sustainable Population Strategy Taskforce and Principle Adviser (2010 Intergenerational Report).

In her time with the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet, Luise held various positions including Assistant Secretary (Tax Superannuation and Workplace Relations) and Assistant Secretary (Fiscal Policy).

My economic qualifications are largely macroeconomics and public policy based. My practical skill set is the application of economic principles to public policy from a whole-of-government perspective. I have a Bachelor of Arts (First Class Honours Economics) from the University of New England.
