Joana Valente is an executive-level advisor with a background in technology strategy who works across a range of data and technology enabled transformation programmes. For nearly two decades, she has worked with the public sector helping to improve the effectiveness of federal and state government policy, across a wide range of areas from border protection to human services delivery. Joana specialises in Digital Transformation and leads EY’s Oceania Digital Government practice.
In both the public and private sectors, she has led engagements in: strategy, digital enabled transformation (across the entire operating model), data driven policy design, data driven service delivery transformation, customer service delivery strategy , enterprise maturity assessments, case management and systems integration.
As the Oceania Digital Government Leader Joana leads teams in working with clients and technology partners to shift the engagement between the public sector and its key stakeholders. Key solution approaches include: leveraging customer behaviour insight to deliver services more efficiently; understanding the complexity and risk profile of different government decisions in order to highlight those that require most resource attention; Integrating traditional and digital engagement channels to shift engagement quality and cost; and improving policy design through a data driven modelling capability.
Before joining EY, Joana was a partner with IBM’s systems integration and consulting arm. In this role, Joana was responsible for delivering technology enabled transformation programs across social security, service delivery and border protection sectors. Prior to this role Joana was the accountable executive for one of the first and largest IT Government outsourcing contracts exceeding $1 billion as the Public Sector General Manager, Computer Sciences Corporation.
