Cathryn has extensive experience as an economist in both the public and private sectors. Cathryn is currently an economist in the Macroeconomic Policy and Forecasting team of Deloitte Access Economics and has previously worked at the Commonwealth Treasury.
Cathryn has a highly developed understanding of the Australian economy and strong expertise in economic analysis and forecasting.
In her current role, Cathryn specialises in providing economic advice for M&A transactions and the financial services sector, as well as public sector economic and tax forecasting. Across a range of client projects, Cathryn applies macroeconomic theory and creates custom models to address particular client needs. For example, Cathryn managed a team to develop econometric models to forecast property market variables as an advisor to the successful bidders in the privatisation of the New South Wales land titles office. Cathryn was also the project manager for the Western Australian Treasury’s recent review of revenue forecasting.
At Treasury, Cathryn prepared economic and tax revenue forecasts as well as commentary for the Commonwealth Budget. Cathryn contributed to the ongoing development of Treasury’s analytical frameworks and macroeconomic models, and provided briefing and advice to government ministers and senior Treasury Officers.
Cathryn also has a detailed knowledge of financial markets, having worked at National Australia Bank prior to joining the public sector.
Cathryn holds a Master’s of Economics from the University of Sydney.
