I am an Economist and a Manager at Deloitte Access Economics, one of Australia’s longest running economic consulting firms. I manage projects in the Macroeconomics and Policy Analysis group as well as the Energy and Resources group. My work covers long term forecasts of Australia’s labour markets, skills and industries, energy innovation and market design in the energy industry.
I provide economic advice to clients who are responsible for public policy as well as private sector clients. My work is broad and currently I am helping clients answer questions about the impact of technology, demographics and globalisation on the future of the workforce, the impact of demographics on the outlook for higher education enrolments and Australia’s future skills needs. My passion lies in understanding imperfect markets and Australia’s energy markets are central to my work. Recently, I managed projects investigating the state of innovation in electricity networks, developed customer insights for an energy retailer and options to decarbonise Australia’s gas networks.
Previously, I provided analysis on energy market design and environment policy as a Policy Adviser at the Australian Energy Council. I began my economics career in the Commonwealth public service, providing analysis and forecasts as an Economist at the former Bureau of Resources and Energy Economics. During my time in the public service, I was part of the 2015 Energy White Paper team which provided an energy policy framework and set of actions aiming to increase competition, investment and the more productive use of energy. I also spent time analysing gold and copper markets, creating forecasts of Australia’s commodity exports. I have a Masters of Economics from Monash University in Victoria where I grew up.
